Shopping Nonsense....

I read in all the papers here in So Cal how literally thousands of people camped out. Camped out for the privilege of spending money! What kind of society do we live in? We parade out the homeless for a few short hours, then blast off to spend hundreds at the malls.

One woman was quoted that she HAD to camp out because she has kids and it's the ONLY way to save money. HELLO! How about not spending a dime? That would save a lot of money. Have we taught our kids that they won't be happy until we go broke spending money on things they don't need?

Ask yourself this question,
"What did I give my kids last Christmas? Is it still around? Do they still use it?"
If you answer that question with "no or an "I don't know," then do something different this year.

Save your money or spend less. Go on a trip. Do something memorable! Or buy something memorable with it. Go out to dinner. Spend the money wisely.

Just for my experience, I went broke spending on step-kids. It made them happy for 5 minutes.
It made me happy for 6 minutes. After that, life goes on. Last Christmas I drew the line.

But don't get me wrong. Your children are only young once. Enjoy them. But, after tearing and ripping up presents, they will forget about the "joy" of the moment in a few short days.

Big cause of post-holiday depression. Don't let it happen to you!

Election thoughts

Republicans had it coming.
Democrats don't know what's coming.
If you look closely, many republicans were
voted out in favor of people who were even
more conservative. Heath Shuler is a clear
example. Far wings of each party are going
to be hard pressed to get a consensus.
Lets not forgot how Joe Lieberman owes his
political life to voting republicans.

As far as public education goes, neither side
has enough votes to do anything. Either way.

Social issues will also come to a stand still, or
get more conservative. (see above.) The dems
won, but not the left-wing.

All states that had it on the ballot voted in
favor of defining marriage as being between
a man and a woman. And that's a good thing.
No matter how you slice it, marriage should
remain between a man and woman. Period.

But the bad thing is that as soon as the voters
speak, the lawyers bark. California voted by
a huge margin to make it very tough on child
sex offenders to live near and interact with kids.
Unfortunately, the day after someone sued to
stop it. Amazing. Not really. Nothing amazes me as
to what people will sue over. Everyone has rights
except the people being offended. Everyone now
has the right to offend.

Just look at the top movie. A movie filled with
just nonsense against certain people. And the
media calls it great. Watch out, parents. You
still have the right to decide what your kids see
and do. Enforce it! Your kids will be better off.
