Kerry, not again!

We take a sound bite and make a big thing out of it.
Guilty on both sides. But the newsmedia cannot get
around the stupidity of such a remark.

Kerry got stuck in Vietnam. And he went to Yale.

I spent 4 years in the Navy and I am pretty well
educated.

In fact, todays military demands brains from even
the lowest grunt. With technology of weaponry,
todays military personnel are light years ahead of
their predecessors. Add to this the fact that they
don't accept non-high school graduates anymore.

Many many well-educated people, from doctors to
rocket scientists are in the military. And many are
in Iraq. Many actually want to be there.

Speaking of Iraq, we just had a major fire here in
So Cal. 4 firefighters lost their lives. I wonder if
anyone would ever say that too many had lost
their lives, so let's pull the firefighters from the
fire and just let it burn. See how crazy that sounds?
It sounds just as crazy when you say it about Iraq.
It's not about body counts. It's about doing the right
thing.

Who or what to vote for?

Many people ask, how do you decide who you vote for?
It amazes me how many people can walk into a voting booth
and not know who they are going to vote for.
There are clear choices among the major candidates.
Ask yourself:

Who is closer to my religous beliefs?
Who is closer to my personal values?
Does the candidate support my views on issues I support?
How does the person live their public life?
Would I want my children influenced by them?

To me, it's a no-brainer.
There are clear choices.

Halloween logic

Halloween has become a major holiday in the US. Just another day to party.
Parent ask how should I handle my child?
Well, when I was a kid, it was about getting scared, trick or treating, and dressing up.
It also had facets of hay rides, bobbing for apples, etc.
Never, ever, ever did I ever think this was some occult thing.
It never was, and it never should be.
It has changed for some people. Halloween was never a time for such
nonsense. People have tried to turn it into that. Just like Christmas.
The truth is, that neither were anything like a pagan activity.
It was not some evil celebration by witches and others.
It was a day to celebrate, remember, or honor the dead. Period.
But they have been turned by some people into some pagan time
of rituals. Only in recent times has it been filled with ghosts and goblins.

In short, let your kid have fun! Other thoughts will not even come
to their little minds.

However, you are the parent. Make your choices and make them stick.
Explain why you disagree with Halloween and come up with an alternative!
Your child is only a child once. If you let the times slip by, you will regret
it later. You will be very sad later in life, when you think about how you
did not experience the magic of childhood! Bring the magic back! The real
magic, that is! And there is a magic of childhood.

Some of the best memories I have as a child is
trick or treating and going to the school and church carnivals.

Society wants your kid to grow up way too fast.

Let 'em be kids!

Foley II, Parents have lost

Parents, you have lost. Whatever authority you ever had over your children has been eroded away by society. But not the whole society, just the part that controls the media: News, movies, and music.

If you stand up for what you beleive is morally right, decent, good, and normal, you are called a bigot. Intolerant. A bad person.

This has trickled down to your parental authority. Everywhere around them, your children are getting the message that they can choose how they act, dress, and live and you cannot do anything. Then, we turn around and say, "Oh parents! Please keep your kids in line."

Yeah. Right. The media jumped all over Mel Gibson, and rightfully so for what he said.
But do you ever hear them stand up for other repugnant things? In the name of "art," we allow all sorts of indecent acts being depicted. It's art, they say. It's good! It's okay!

But then jump all over Foley for his bit? Foley was wrong. But here is something new.

You will hear about the new movie, "Running with Scissors."

But will you hear how it is filled with all sorts of filth? Blatant sexual situations that are just passed off as normal? This movie graphically depicts sex between a 35 year old man and a 15 year old boy. Anf have you heard anyone in the newsmedia say a thing? Absolutely not!

People who make movies and music with filth are praised! Cutting edge! Daring! Thought provoking!

BALONEY! It's crap. Pure and simple. No wonder you can't get a hold of your kid.
Nobody says you have the right!

I could name hundreds of movies full of filth that are just praised all over my the media.

Anyone who thinks that a 14 year old girl should have a major operation (abortion) without their parents being informed is just not all there mentally. Period.

This has nothing to with rights of abortion. It has to do with what is right, decent, and good.
But unfortunately, those things are passed!

I hate to talk about abortion and....

Okay. I hate to discuss abortion and related things. But again, logic must prevail.

In California, we are voting on whether to require parents to be notified about a minor child getting an abortion. Think logically here people. Sometimes logic is thrown out.

We do not allow minors to vote.
We do not allow under 21 drinking.
We do not allow under 16 getting a driver's license.
We have other age restrictions on driving.
We do not allow minors to get a piercing without parent approval.
We do not allow minors to get tattoos without parental approval.
We do not allow most operations without parental approval.
We have child labor laws.
We force all children under 16 to go to school.
We are banning candy and sodas from schools.

And we think we are a better society for keeping minors under control.
Why? Because they are minors. We as a society do not believe that minors have the capacity to make good choices. Except when we politicize something. Then we throw caution to the wind and logic out the window.

Can you explain to me why we want and applaud parental notification on piercings, but not on abortions? Abortion is not a simple procedure. It is MAJOR surgery. Period.

Ask yourself this:
"Would I want my 13 year-old daughter to get breast implants without me knowing?"
Funny how because breast implants are not a political football, you would scream,
"NO! My daughter is no getting such nonsense!"
Exactly. So think logically here, people. Is society better or worse because parents must be notified? If you say worse, then you must not agree with any laws restricting minors. You cannot have it both ways.

On a side note, my wife is a nurse and I read her nursing journals frequently.
It seems there is a consensus among nursing professionals that c-section deliveries have gotten out of hand. That women and doctors are doing it for no other reason than convenience. And they are trying to stop this unwarranted and unnecessary elective surgey.

Why does this strike me as odd?
Because many nurses work in plastic surgery centers. Centers where women get all sorts of elective surgeries just for the sake of looking better. But they are major surgeries and women get hurt and die. And I have never heard anyone talk against such things. Therefore, how can you tell women to stop having c-sections? To them it is just a choice of convenience.

Where am I leading? Because women and girls get abortions frequently for no other reason than just ending a pregnancy. And we applaud this. Then wonder why we cannot stop c-sections.
Elective c-sections are not the best way to deliver. But the medical community cannot stop this until we make women know that EVERYTHING they do to their bodies has complications and MANY THINGS are not needed. As long as we speak out of both sides of our mouths we are going nowhere fast.

If a woman has a right to an abortion, she has a right to a c-section. And any other elective procedure. And to argue against one you must argue against the others.

No medical procedure is completely simple and completely safe.
When will we wake up to this fact? And you want your daughter to get any procedure she wants? Without you even being notified??????

Logic. Plain and simple.

Foley and The Real Danger

What congressman Foley did was wrong. Flat wrong. He should be made respnsible for his actions. Funny how this same newsmedia wanted to say that the President, married, could do anything in the White House with a 22-year-old female intern. Amazing.

Does anybody really want to know what is damaging our kids? Society. Society that speaks out of both sides of their mouths. Saying how terrible Foley is. Look around people. Do you think movies, television, and music is good for your kids? I urge you to listen and watch what is being peddled to your kids.

Take for instance movies. Did anyone besides me think it was a disgrace when American Beauty won an academy award? This movie is rife with extramarital sex, as well as sex with minors. This was the media's darling!

And now, have you heard the hype over the new movie, The Departed?
Newsmedia is falling all over this "great" movie. If you really want to knw
the truth, go and see this movie first hand. I challenge you to count the
number of F-words. I'll bet you lose track after 50. Wake up people!
The real danger for your kids is coming from other things other than
comgressmen!

Church and Young People

I read recently that churches are not getting young people to be life-long members or attenders. This is not surprising. About 40 years ago, (I am 46), I remember going to church with the family. It was a tradition and ritual. My parents had always gone to church. Their parents had always gone to church. And so on. Back then each neighborhood had a church. Many had more than one. If you did NOT attend church, you were an anomoly. You were kind of looked on as someone not normal. I actually envied a few of my friends who I thought were "lucky" to not be dragged to church. But I kind of felt sorry for them too. I felt their parents did not care. And that's what I still beleive.

Talk to parents today and most could care less about church, much less their kids going. Many foolishly say something like, "I'll let my kids decide." "I won't force my kids to go to church." and many other remarks that have now become somewhat cliche.

But think, people. Your boss forces you do do things. You are forced to work on certain days and compete tasks. Willingly or unwillingly. And we accept it. The government in California forces motorcycle riders to wear helmets. And we accept it. The government also demands you send your child to school. Whether they want to or not. And we accept that. But, when it comes to church, we don't force our kids to go. Why?

We make laws to do things for the good of society. Your boss forces you to do things for the better of the company. The government forces you to send your child to school because they beleive your child will be much better off.

Ask yourself this, "Is my child better off in church, or somewhere else?"
I'll bet there are MANY things you force your child to do.
Do you think the government has the best interest for your child?
Why not your church? Is your child better off in church, or...?

We have made Christianity a bad word in this country. Another question to ask yourself.
Has school or society become better places since "God" and all inferences to, have been slowly filtered out? How do you think a Godless society will behave?

Okay. I hear some of you. You do not beleive in God or you are not a Christian. Fair enough. But the principal remains the same. You must "answer" to a higher power. Call it whatever you want. Instead of church, make it family time on the weekend. Give your kid no excuses. You WILL do something as a family Saturday or Sunday morning. No options. Do you think your child will be better off, or worse off?

No wonder young people are leaving churches. Parents are giving in to the morals expressed by movies, music, and television. And God is not much of a part.

Force your child, people. Force your child. Your child will NOT be worse off. I can promise you that. I am a better person to day because I was "forced."

TV Study, School(?) Violence revisited

New study shows that more TV=less sucessful in school.
Boy is that earth-shattering news! Who would have guessed?
Come on people, how many more useless studies do we need to do? It amazes me that vast sums of money are spent on useless studies. Did anyone think that if you watch a ton of TV, that you would even be remotely more successful in school?
I wish those who give free money to do studies actually looked at what was being studied. Maybe, just maybe, we did not need to waste money on the TV study. Gee, ya think?

School violence, revisited. The shooting of students yesterday was not a school violence issue. It is a society issue. We have brought up at least the past 2 generations on principles that give zero guidance in the name of tolerance. We can't say no to our children's movies, TV, music, sex lives, without being called old-fashioned and not in step. Then we wonder why some grow up and do whatever they want. Are we expecting to be able to tell them right from wrong when as a society we have called people who believe in right and wrong intolerant? Well my friends, there is a right and there is a wrong. Period. And the sooner we go back and teach our children such thoughts, the better. What you do DOES matter. The way you live DOES matter. The things you believe in DO matter. Your personal choices DO matter. Your actions DO matter. Responsibility has become almost a 4-letter word.
